Amazon Spain launches Amazon Fresh

The Amazon Fresh service is now available for Prime subscribers in Spain!

Since the beginning of the year, Amazon Prime customers in Madrid already had the possibility of benefiting from the more than 7,000 products of the DIA supermarket in Amazon.es or through the Amazon application.

Amazon has announced the launch of Amazon Fresh, which joins the DIA supermarket, for Amazon Prime customers in Madrid. The company’s goal is to serve millions of Amazon Prime customers throughout Spain throughout 2021, thanks to fast home delivery, within a maximum period of two hours.

What is Amazon Fresh?

Amazon Fresh is the service of the company founded by Jeff Bezos, aimed at selling more than 10,000 products, in which it will allow customers to make their purchase in a wide catalog of fresh and frozen foods. In addition, there is a selection of foods, from eggs, milk and cereals, to meat, fruits and vegetables, ice cream and many more. All Amazon Prime customers can also access beauty and personal care products, toys, and stationery through Amazon Fresh.

“We are excited to expand our fast delivery service for food, beauty and personal care products, as well as other categories with the launch of Amazon Fresh,” said Camille Bur, Country Manager of Amazon Fresh in Spain, France and Italy. “We’re always looking for ways to improve the online shopping experience, and we believe Amazon Prime customers in Madrid will be delighted to be able to shop on Amazon Fresh or at the DIA store in Amazon.es,” he adds.

In addition, Prime customers will be able to make their purchases in the DIA store through Amazon.es/dia and benefit from more than 7,000 products, both local products and major brands. In addition, you can take advantage of the great discounts offered by DIA on the platform as well as the ease of making the purchase, since you have products classified by different categories, which allows a simple purchase within the reach of any audience.

What can you do with Amazon Fresh?

With the Amazon Fresh service and the DIA store, Amazon Prime customers in Madrid and the surrounding area will be able to:

  • Make the purchase in the Amazon Fresh and DIA stores through Amazon.es or its Amazon.es app. Customers can easily check the availability of the service in their zip code in Amazon.es/supermercado and make the purchase by adding products to the cart.
  • Receive your products, both the most well-known brands, and local products, by selecting the 2-hour delivery slot you prefer, today or tomorrow, seven days a week, with no shipping cost on orders over €50.

Along with this project, Amazon continues to grow as an online supermarket and proof of this is the sum of projects it already had in the capital such as the Amazon Prime Now service and Amazon Pantry. In all three cases, they seek to offer us the basic items of everyday life, but with a different formula in each one.

In the case of Amazon Pantry, it was available until June 2020. It was the first supermarket created by the e-commerce giant, Amazon. Its operation was based on boxes, that is, in each one you could include products weighing up to 20 kg or a volume of 11L, and their shipping cost was €3.99 per box. Their goal was to solve the problem of shipping everyday products of great weight or size, but at a low price.

Despite not shipping fresh or cold products, most products can now be found on Prime Now or Fresh.

Finally, Amazon Prime Now became a large online supermarket, with differences compared to Amazon Pantry: shipments are made on the same day, with two-hour deliveries and with the option of getting fresh products. Among the variety of foods, Prime Now offers: meat, fish, fruits, vegetables, sausages, bread, cheeses, dairy, frozen, as well as cleaning, drugstore and many more.

This online supermarket is made up of three types of stores: DIA supermarkets, local markets and Amazon’s own store. It is currently operating in Madrid, Barcelona, (where they offer services seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.), Seville, Valencia, Malaga, Bilbao and Alicante (available from Monday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.).

If you are not yet a Prime customer, remember that you can access the 30-day free trial period in Amazon.es/amazonprime, and enjoy all the products offered by Amazon Fresh and above all, the ease of making your purchase.
