Steps to follow when shopping on Amazon
1- CREATE AN ACCOUNT
The most important step is to create an Amazon account. To do this you can access amazon.co.uk through your browser or download the Amazon App on your mobile (you can search for it in the App store, Play Store…).
Once you have entered the Amazon homepage, you should look for the link to register. It is usually located in the menu bar, by clicking on the Message: Hello, log in; or next to the Amazon search bar..
When you click on «log in», you must select the option: create account. A form will be displayed with the necessary data to create your account:
- Name
- Password
Once your username is registered, it will appear at the top of the navigation menu and you will be able to start shopping.

2- SEARCH FOR THE PRODUCT YOU WOULD LIKE TO BUY
On the home page you will find a search bar. Type in the name of the product (you can include descriptions to make your search more specific), for example: women’s black shoes and click on the magnifying glass to search. Amazon will automatically show you all the products that match your search term.
You can also search Amazon by browsing the different categories and subcategories in which their products are classified. This option is available in the Menu bar – Search by Departments. You can also add filters such as ratings, shipping costs, brand, price… to narrow down the product you are looking for.
Another way to find products that you don’t know how to describe is to search by pictures. This option is only available for the mobile App version. Next to the search bar you will find the symbol of a camera, you can take a photo of the object or upload an image you already have in your gallery and Amazon will display a catalogue of products whose images are similar to your search. This tool can be very useful when someone recommends a product but we don’t know how to search for it. All you have to do is upload a photo and Amazon will show you what you were looking for.
3- CHOOSE THE CORRECT PRODUCT
Once the final results of your search appear, knowing how to buy on Amazon means knowing how to choose well. As you will find a list with a wide variety of products, you should make a comparison according to your preferences.
Find the right price for you. Check product reviews and comments to verify that it meets what you need and that the seller is really clear about delivery times, product quality or the correct description of the product.
If you want more detailed information about an item, you can click on the product to access its information sheet. Here you can find product variations such as colours, sizes, formats; You can also see if the order is sent by Amazon or another company (usually shipments managed by Amazon arrive earlier and also offer real-time tracking of the status of your order), if they have stock of the product and if there are offers at that time, shipping costs, estimated delivery date…

4- PAYMENT
Once you have decided which product you want to buy, you can add it to your basket and search for other products on the website, or you can place your order by clicking on: Buy now
A page will appear with some data to fill in (such as the payment method, the delivery address, the option to send it as a gift) and a final summary of the purchase. After checking that everything is perfect, select the option: Confirm order, to complete the purchase.
You will automatically receive a confirmation email. When you open it you will see a summary of the order and an Amazon URL or link to locate the package. You will be able to check if it is in transit, in delivery, if it has already been delivered or the information of the delivery person or carrier in case you need to contact them.
Now you will have to be patient and wait for it.
Remember, your next purchases will be much faster with the buy in one click option. By storing your username, your delivery and payment details will be securely saved so that you don’t have to fill them in again. Although you can always add different delivery addresses or new payment methods before confirming the order.
